There was some extraterrestrial activity in Ashcroft earlier this month as the crew filming the X-Files remake shot on location.

Film Commissioner for the Thompson Nicola District Victoria Weller says Director Chris Carter and his crew shot a substantial scene in the popular filming destination.

“What attracted them to the area was the desert and they filmed here for a number of days,” said Weller. “Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Kamloops, and Merritt are sort of like the golden triangle in there, including Spences Bridge. That whole area gets a lot of work and a lot of attention.”

The film crew did take advantage of the local economy.

“They did hire local crew and they also hired and used a lot of the infrastructure and knowledge from the Ashcroft Indian Band,” added Weller.

The original Mulder and Scully will be back for the remake after 13 years of being off the air.

The new mini-series will feature six episodes.

No official release date has been set.

Community fans may be lamenting the fact that the comedy might not fulfill its prophecy of six seasons and a movie as Yahoo has yet to order a film or a seventh season, but at least they’ll be able to see one of its stars move on to an interesting project. Joel McHale, who stars as playboy and texting addict Jeff Winger in Community, has signed on to Fox’s The X-Files update, Deadline reports. Weird!

In a guest-starring role, McHale will play a conservative internet news anchor named Tad O’Malley, who becomes an ally to Mulder (David Duchovny). How? We don’t know, but something something the truth is out there, right?

TVLine is reporting that the second episode of the upcoming six-episode season for “The X-Files” will be a sequel to “Home”, the highly acclaimed episode from the fourth season.

The reasoning for this comes from two pieces of evidence:
1) The episode’s name is “Home Again”.
2) The writer/director of the episode is Glen Morgan, who, along with James Wong, wrote the “Home” episode.

“Home” is considered by many to be one of the greatest episodes in the sci-fi/horror drama series. It follows Mulder and Scully as they investigate the death of an infant born with severe birth defects. This leads them to the home of The Peacocks, a family of deformed farmers. Things get very scary and strange in this episode, which was the first, and apparently only, of the series to warrant a TV-MA rating.

The new season of The X-Files will air in early 2016.
